The do-gooders should leave our festivals alone! Ok Christmas is not sustainable because of all the electricity that is used in this particular time of the year, people tend to have their heating on constantly, because it is cold, however Christmas is about all the bright lights in widows, on doors and Christmas on trees. Without this it wouldn’t feel Christmassy…
Christmas lights gets you in the mood of Christmas, it brightens the winter up, Christmas lights puts a smile on children’s faces, ( some adults too) some displays are absolutely beautiful and it’s a shame you only get to see them once a year.
I suppose this is a contribution to being sustainable by taking your Christmas lights down, not having them up all year round. Christmas is only once every year so some may argue that it is sustainable, because it is not a daily thing.
Christmas is a time to relax with family and friends, over eat and spend money on those whom they care about, or give to those who do not have. Christmas is important to families who see it as a very important cultural period.
